THE REHAB INDUSTRY NEEDS DISRUPTION IN THE SAME WAY UBER DISRUPTED THE TAXI CAB INDUSTRY.
Square One is “Reimagining Recovery” with the simple goal of providing meaningful and lasting options to the millions of individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
Square One believes everyone can SOAR in life, but unfortunately today’s rehab world rewards profiteers at the expense of those who are in desperate need of solutions. It is our mission to change this dynamic and give those suffering from addiction a real chance at getting their lives back. This level of innovation requires an out-of-the-box vision. We need to go back to Square One.
WHY THE TREATMENT INDUSTRY NEEDS AN INTERVENTION
A Troubled Industry
Scott Steindorff, a Hollywood producer with over 35 years sobriety, maybe summed it up best in a 2017 interview:
“The rehab industry needs to be disrupted the same way Uber disrupted the taxi cab industry.
I’m incredibly connected in the recovery world and when I was asked where I should send my nephew, I said, ‘I don’t know.’ Because rehab doesn’t work.
You’re taking a lot of money, giving a lot of people a lot of false hope and what I have found consistently across the map is a high failure rate of people staying sober after rehab.”
Over the past 18 months, Square One has interacted with nearly 3 million addicts seeking help and what we learned is that successful recovery is challenging, if not impossible, through a traditional 30-day rehab program. Moreover, the vast majority of patients cannot afford treatment or do not qualify through traditional insurance coverage. Patients who do qualify for and make it through a treatment program relapse at astronomical rates.
A Better Way (OUR WAY)
Back to Square One
At Square One, we view treatment and recovery as a tripod. If one leg is shorter than the others, or missing completely, there is a high likelihood recovery collapses. Unfortunately, the challenge to a holistic, long-term approach like this is the cost burden to the patient and lack of insurance coverage to offset anything beyond traditional rehab, which even then is still only available to a very small minority of those searching for help.
We are addressing this need by providing financing options that can reduce the monthly expense associated with care. The cost to the patient is often less than $1,000 when prioritizing components of our solution adequately. Our program gives access to more patients, allowing for the best opportunity for sobriety within a broader budget range.
